The दृश्य एवं संकेत सूचना प्रसंस्करण [English meaning is Visual and Signal Information Processing (VSIP)] research group was founded on 28 March 2025 by Dr. Suresh Chandra Raikwar under the umbrella of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, Punjab.
VSIP is dedicated to exploring, researching, and developing advanced approaches in computer vision, image and signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The group’s mission is to advance responsible, trusted, safe, and fair AI, while also pushing the boundaries of emerging fields such as Brain–Computer Interface (BCI).
To ensure depth and specialization, VSIP is organized into seven subgroups, each contributing to a focused research domain:
सुदर्शन 🏵: Security aspects of research.
पांचजन्य 🐚🪔🙆: Emerging interdisciplinary directions.
पद्मा 🪷🪔 : Vision Transformer architectures and Agentic AI.
तुलसी 🌿: Biomedical research.
वेणु 🪈🪷: Mathematical understanding and theoretical foundations.
कदम्ब 🌳: Graphical User Interface (GUI) research and applications.
कौमुदकी 🪈😊🏵🌹 : Intelligent transportation systems.
Note: Since its inception, VSIP has produced research papers, patents, innovative products, and startups, bridging the gap between academic excellence and societal needs.
